Defining ICT and its relation with learning

I consider unavoidable addresing the concept of ICT if we understand that technology changes constantly, and so does society and the way we communicate.  When I searched for definitions of Information Communications and Technologies (ICT) was really hard to find an updated one. Tech terms stated in 2010 that ICT:

"..refers to technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications. It is similar to Information Technology (IT), but focuses primarily on communication technologies. This includes the Internet, wireless networks, cell phones, and other communication mediums."(Tech Terms, 2010)"

Understanding that these technologies help people to communicate and share information, I think schools have the duty to educate people in this matter. I have found a Prezi presentation on ICT and active learning by David Mc Mahon, advisor at Professional Development Service Teacher, which provides in-context usage of ICT within schools' curriculum and how this help students to be part of their own learning process.

If you find this presentation interesting, I leave David's twitter account in case you want to follow him @davidmcma .

Another subtopic I think is relevant to mention is the fact that the way we conceive a school is actually changing. Mostly because all the knowledge they provided is now published online, so students do not go to school and leave knowledge there, but when they arrive at their homes, knowledge is  everywhere. David Cormier, a Canadian educator I had the chance to meet last year at the University of Prince Edward Island, created a video in 2010 called Community as curriculum, explaining how the traditional school has changed.
